Surrender Removes Fear, How Devotion Transforms Us, Law of Attraction, Satsang
In this clip from one of Radhanath Swami's lectures, he discusses the difference between true surrender due to love and devotion to God, and not truly surrendering. He highlights the fact that if one is truly in ecstatic love and devotion with God, it's so overwhelming that one becomes fearless. In this deep, oceanic, breathtaking, overpowering, all-conquering love, fear isn't even a concern. Even if it doesn't seem to "make sense", whatever that means.
Maybe it's taking the leap into the unknown, via a career change, shift in living situation, doing something you've never seen anyone accomplish before, being a pioneer in your own right or standing in your truth even when your truth is not accepted by those around you...if you're doing this with a spirit of true devotion and love in God, then you will do these things fearlessly. It could even feel exhilarating--although on the surface it could seem frightening--because these are moments when God has really "got you", it's like you are safe under the beautiful huge arch of his foot, or cradled safe in the palm of (one of their) hands. Well, you always are anyway, but I think one could feel it even more so in such moments.
In our humble abode/temple, my Beloved and I love to watch lectures on YouTube. It is a sweet way to invite God into your home, and to have satsang (association with like-hearted, elevated beings, having God as the guest of honor) with the spirit of teachers who've really walked their talk, as they like to say in Swan River.
Indeed, it is important to keep company with those who are further along in their path than you. Not to focus on more/less, or comparisons or judgements, but so that you can be inspired. When you associate with those who are more learned, you will inevitably learn something just from being around them. That's a fact! There's no way you can't, I don't think! Furthermore, just by law of attraction, if you begin such activities at home, even if it's just yourself listening to Srila Prabhupad lectures on YouTube while cooking dinner, over time you could find yourself doing so while having tea with a friend, or maybe you make friends with whom you discuss yogic teachings, or going to public lectures or dharmat talks, or having simple kirtan on the banks of Bayou St. John. I truly believe this.
So it is important that we truly consider how much time we dedicate to what truly matters to us. We should start assessing and reassessing how we manage our time. Maybe our perspectives need an overhaul as well. Why are we really doing what we do every day? What is important to us, and how much of our day do we dedicate to that which is important to us?
If we consider our lives in these ways, we can better align ourselves with our principles, and live more in harmony with our beliefs, maybe even more in touch with our Higher Selves. If we try to live more intentionally, we can discover true serenity from within, Divine Serenity. I believe this is how we are truly supposed to be living, not in these lives of slavery to the dollar bill, fear, anxiety, doubt, or stress....we were meant for more, I believe. We are part and parcel of the Divine (to paraphrase Srila Prabhubad). Haribo!
