Check it out: Live Awake podcast
I've been listening to Sarah Blondin's podcast, Live Awake, almost daily since I discovered it. I love her soothing voice, like a warm blanket over my whirling mind. Her words speak to me on spiritual and other subtle levels, in a simple way that helps me remember that I am a soul and this world is just a stepping stone on the path back to the Divine.
Similar to many other westernized beings who live a busy life, it is a struggle to maintain balance, and thus remain stable through all the ups and downs of life, big and small. Sometimes it can seem like one thing after another. Sometimes I'm in my own way and don't even realize it, repeating the same situations because I never liberated myself from old, worn-out patterns I didn't know affect me so.
The Live Awake podcast has helped me realize that I am a soul, we are all souls, and that there's something beyond this material world. Indeed there's something greater out there for us all; there's a gentle, invisible web of support behind all our struggles, and we as souls are here on this earth, in this lifetime, to find our way back...back to God, Krishna, the Divine, by whatever name you know The Universal One to be.
First of all, God is Real. You can reference God by whatever name, but know a bigger divine force more complete and perfect than anything you could imagine, is the source of all we see and experience in this material world. This divine Force IS the material world and all our lives. God is the string which keeps all the pearls on a necklace together.
Second, God is the most perfect and complete. God doesn't need anything to be whole, like we do. That is our imperfection, to be separated from Perfection, and all the while we are here, we struggle to fill the hole. Some realize the missing piece is God and we thus focus on unification. Others go their entire lives not realizing this and must go through however many lifetimes until they figure it out, lost and always struggling, until they realize they are a piece of God (soul) trying to get back to God.
Third, if God is perfect and everything we see and experience is God, and if we are part and parcel of God, as Srila Prabhupad says, then everything is truly perfect as it is. Therefore we should just be chill, trust and believe. No stress, anxiety, doubt or confusion should exist if one truly believes these 3 principles. This is taking shelter in Krishna. This is fearlessness. Akuto bayam. Further, when one truly believes this, then there is no difference perceived between that person and another person, or being for that matter. How often do you connect and relate to a tree, a blade of grass, an insect? Or someone outwardly different from you/your enemy/sometime that you don't immediately feel Love for?
Sometimes, we make decisions that put us in situations that test our commitment to these principles, and try to inspire stress, anxiety, etc within us. That's why I love Live Awake so much: Sarah is keen to remind us that whatever is happening is perfect as it is, even our struggles, for struggles are only opportunities for us to get closer to the Divine. Strength in vulnerability, in quiet moments. She is very effective at reminding us who we really are, what we are doing here, and what's really going on.
I highly recommend checking out this podcast. It is a blessed offering to the world, especially in these modern times.
