Cooking for, and with, Krishna

One way I've grown closer to God is through food. I didn't know this could be possible, but it is!
This post is dedicated to all the delicious meals I've cooked for Krishna, and to honor all the ways God changed me, through food.

At first, I started with the switch to vegetarianism. This was one recipe I enjoyed with my Beloved, back when we used to eat cheese.

Pan-grilled beefsteak tomato with feta & arugula, and lemon-caper dressing
I imagine we could still eat it, just without feta, or sub a vegan feta cheese...

On July 4, my Beloved and I were steady listening to Sharon Gannon all day, and decided to take the vegan pledge. I remember when we did it, we discussed how it would be much better for us karmically, energetically, and as we were doing it to please Krishna, we knew we would be in good hands. We were (and still are!) excited about how fun it is to be vegan!

Here are some of my favorite vegan recipes. I am including these because I have actually made them and they turned out very nicely. My Beloved doesn't use recipes, he cooks in a very organic way in which he relies solely on Krishna for cooking. It's always delicious and fun when they cook together. Sometimes it is simple and very grounding, like lentils and rice, other times it's something surprising and creative, like when he made vegan bread pudding or vegan fried catfish!

Lol, in hindsight it seems we have an affinity for vegan sweets around here!

To be fair, lately I've also been cooking with Krishna, making soups organically, that is, with no recipe.  I have also gotten into the habit of not tasting the food during cooking.

My Beloved mentioned that Srila Prabhupad would cook for all those people, but wouldn't take taste tests along the way...for indeed, if you are cooking with Krishna, you would not worry if the food will "turn out okay," of course it will be wonderful food, as it was cooked with a devotional heart, to please Krishna.

Here are some foods I made with no recipe, just praying to Krishna the whole time: minestrone, and deep dish vegan pizza.  PS-we do not use garlic and onion, and we try as much as possible to make everything from scratch.
Minestrone!

I put my heart into it!  :)

The deep dish I made from scratch (dough and sauce)

It is important to offer everything to Krishna, even food.  After all, Krishna IS the food!  In this way, by praying while cooking, the food can be blessed, and we believe it is even that much more satisfying.
