Mary Magdalena: Disciple of Love
Like my childhood heroine, St. Therese the Little Flower, I found myself also drawn to the figure of Mary Magdalena. I think it was because she was so humble and dedicated to loving Jesus. I grew up with her as a symbol for repentance, that even "sinners" are accepted within God's Love, and the salvation (shelter and freedom) that can be found in love for the Divine (Bhakti). I didn't realize it then, as there was very little mention of her back when I was growing up in the Church, but now I see she also symbolized seva, as she was depicted washing Jesus feet and drying them with her own hair...
I will write more about my admiration for Mary Magdalena in the near future. For now, I just saw these quotes and was compelled to share and introduce this special disciple of Jesus.
