Quotes from St. Therese, Bhakti Nun

"St. Therese de Lisieux" is how they quote her, but I grew up knowing her as a fellow child: St. Therese of the Child Jesus. The Little Flower.

Before school age, I'd spend the days with my Ninang, Tagalog for "godmother".  I would play alone, and daydream, as I grew up without my sister until I was five. I would also help Ninang with her tasks and watch her daily routine. A large part of her routine was prayer. St. Therese was one of her favorite saints. I'd read whatever prayer cards I could find on her, as these were my "baseball cards" and the saints were my "superheroes". No home internet back then in the 1980s, so I knew as much as I could read from the cards. I felt close to St. Therese because she was young just like me, and loved God. She taught me how to love God, through simple ways, by being good, and pouring love into every little thing for God. This was what she called her "little way." I didn't know it then, but it seems I was taught, from childhood, the path of Bhakti yoga, seva--loving and serving God.
